Applications

This series of capacitors has been designed in oval shape according to VDE 0560-8 FPU class, UL-810, IEC-252-1 for all types of A.C. applications, where high degree of protection against explosion or fire is required.


Such as:

  • Air Conditioners
  • Washing Machines
  • Refrigerators
  • Power Factor correction
  • Single phase motors

 

Construction

The capacitors are filled with oil and are housed in an aluminum casing having an explosion and fire proof system. This system is based on the bulging of the upper deck of the capacitor following an internal over pressure which disconnects the internal connection. In this way the capacitor is disconnected from the mains before the casing reaches its limited of over pressure causing explosion or fire.

An increase in the internal pressure is caused by the chemical decomposition of polypropylene film in areas where long and frequent self-healing discharge occur e.g. at the end of the capacitor’s life span or in case of an improper use of the capacitor.
